Job Description
Vision Support Barrow & District is at an exciting time, with a new CEO, who started in June and the launch of our Lived Experience Transformation in July. As we move forward to create our co-produced strategy, which will set out our road map for the next three years, we are feeling full of hope and optimism for the future.
Our values are focused on supporting people with lived experience of vision impairment, to live independently and to live well. We believe in amplifying the voices of the people who struggle to be heard and we do this by connecting in with policy makers locally, regionally and nationally.
Times are tough for small to medium sized charities right now, we are fortunate to be financially stable with good relationships with funders, we hope to maintain that position into the future and to develop new and innovative service delivery plans to meet the local need of people who are blind and partially sighted.
In order to support us on our mission we are recruiting for a number of new Trustees. We welcome applications from a broad range of people who are thinking of taking up a Trustee role, whether this be their first or their fifty first! We are however particularly keen to receive applications from people who have the following skill sets:
- Cyber Security/Digital
- Marketing and Fundraising
- Grass Roots Charity Sector experience
In addition we would welcome applicants who have lived experience of vision impairment.
To allow as wide a group of people to consider volunteering their time and skills to us, we are happy to work in a hybrid way. Board meetings are held monthly and we are happy to support attendance via MS teams for 50% of the meetings in the year. Face to face attendance is required for the rest, together with the AGM and the annual Trustee Development Day. VSBD will pay travel costs for anyone travelling more than fifteen miles to attend.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
